Pump Station Area
UPDATE 11.26.24 The fence has been painted thanks to David Beattie and Dan Whitaker! We want to wait a bit before planting anything else to see what may grow back on its own. There were quite a few palms that might come back up. Still a work in progress!

UPDATE: A fence has been added to shield the pump station equipment. It will be painted the same green as the fence along the Sturdevant Alley to blend in with the surroundings. More plantings will be coming between the fence and Ponvert. In a surprise discovery, sprinklers were discovered which changed the course for what could be planted!

Original post: The area surrounding the pump station had been neglected for years and the vines were taking over. When cleaning the area out, what was believed to be shrubs, were actually discovered to be only vines leaving the area a bit barer that anticipated, so Plan B had to be developed. Taking small steps to further clean up the area, we are now to the point to begin adding in hardscape (the fence) and begin to landscape.

Retreat House Landscaping Renewal
11.26.24 Lots of overgrown shrubs were removed from the area around the brick circle and sidewalk as well as the area around the firepit. It was so overgrown that the sun no longer was even getting to the azaleas lining the sidewalk and the boxwoods around the brick circle were in bad shape. It was long past time for a good overhaul! After the plants were removed, we had Arthur come in and till up the area to ready it for new plantings.

The brick work was also attended to. Betsy hired a very talented brick mason to redo the outside of the circle, balance the column and edge the entire area around the firepit. Doc and Dan added sand to the firepit area to spread around. Its already looks much better! Plants are next on the agenda and will go in as weather allows.

Front Entry
11.26.24 Plants have been ordered, and the beds are waiting to be prepped! Two landscape designers were consulted, and we asked for plants that are low maintenance and deer resistant. Here are the plants chosen: Wintergreen boxwood, Carex Everillo, African Iris, Lomandra Grass, Miscanthus Adagio, Blue Star Juniper, Little Giant Arbrovitae and Dwarf Pampas Grass. Excited to see the end result!

UPDATE: 11.19.24 We have cleaned bricks and what a difference it makes! The plants have been ordered so progress is being made!
10.20.24 The front entry planting areas have been completely cleared. The roses have been transplanted to the common area on Sturdevant Drive (see below). The bricks will be pressure washed before any new planting is done.

The roses from the Front Entry were relocated to the common area on Sturdevant Drive where we hope they will thrive and be easier to weed around!
